Triumphant Lutheran Church is seeking a part-time Praise Band Leader for our Contemporary Worship service. Triumphant is a church of over 550 members located in the northeast San Antonio suburb of Garden Ridge (see www.triumphantlutheran.org). The position primarily involves leading the 11 am Sunday morning Contemporary worship service. This service has been ongoing for over 10 years and features an established ensemble of musicians.Responsibilities
The Leader will:
Be responsible for leading the praise band.
Select appropriate music for the praise band based on the shared vision of the senior pastor and the Director of Music and in keeping with the theme of the day or season.
Maintain the praise music library.
Recruit members and rehearse with band members.
Be proficient both vocally and instrumentally.
Be organized, efficient, and detail oriented.
Demonstrate the ability to lead and work well as a team player with both volunteers and professional musicians to create spirit-filled, exciting music that glorifies Jesus Christ.
Connect the band and the congregation with the music being offered to God as worship.
An estimated 15 hours per week includes worship planning, one practice and one service weekly, providing a few songs for Sunday School opening each week, and bringing special music to our 8:30 traditional service once each quarter. Additional hours will be required for special events, periodic worship planning meetings and occasional evening services.
Qualified candidates will preferably have 1 or more years experience in leading a Contemporary Christian music ensemble. The candidate should possess spiritual maturity, a dynamic personality, the ability to direct and relate well to a variety of ages, and the desire to grow the praise and worship music program at Triumphant.
Compensation: Compensation will be commensurate with experience and capabilities.
This is a part-time position without benefits.
