Are you a choral director, who can also lead cutting edge contemporary worship? If so, we may have the full-time job for you! Central United Protestant Church is a United Methodist Church located in Richland, Washington, part of a larger community of about a quarter million people in eastern Washington State. Central Church, with an attendance of 500 – 600, has a strong, well-attended traditional worship service and an emergent contemporary service that focuses on cutting edge, dynamic music and worship. We seek a Director of Worship Arts who will have responsibility over the entire music ministry of the church. Responsibilities include coordinating and supervising all music programs of the church for all age groups, including traditional music arts, dynamic cutting edge contemporary music, audio-visual multimedia, and outreach music ministries. The director will recruit and maintain lay participation and be involved in community events at the church. This position requires a love for the Lord and a heart for worship, proven leadership and communication skills, a well-grounded musical background, and vocal and instrumental skills. The candidate must be a team player and have the ability to recruit, train, and mentor worship team members. Competitive compensation commensurate with experience and skills. Requirements: Education: a music degree with a focus on Christian ministry is preferred Experience: proven experience in overseeing and directing a traditional choir, experience in leading cutting edge contemporary music Goals: a demonstrated desire to keep all forms of worship arts fresh and vibrant, leading to positive and engaging worship experiences Leadership: demonstrated team leadership Required skills and abilities: Leading and directing a traditional choir Leading and directing contemporary worship music, providing direction to and participating in vocal and instrumental elements of modern music Recruiting, mentoring, training, and discipling worship team members Vocal and/or instrumental skills Relationship skills that allow working effectively with other team members; a team player and team builder; the ability to mentor, develop and bring up leaders from within Desired skills and abilities: Experience with audio visual multimedia Relevant computer skills Ability to participate in and oversee a large community choir and orchestra on a twice a year basis Ability to direct a handbell choir
