First United Methodist Church - Jonesboro, AR is seeking to hire an Assistant Director of Music / Worship Leader to begin work as early as July, 2010. As Contemporary Worship Leader, the individual will assist the Director of Music and Worship with the 8:20 and 9:40 Contemporary Worship services and will be responsible for working with a team of pastors in continuing the vision and growth of the 11:00 "Elevation" Service. This contemporary service, started two years ago, is still evolving into an identity and seeks to reach the youth, college, and young adults that are not currently attending worship in our community. The worship band plays the latest cutting-edge worship music including that of Fee, Tomlin, Hillsong, Gateway Worship, Crowder, etc.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
-Provide oversight for arranging rehearsals and scheduling instrumentalists for all Worship Bands including the Worship Band, Elevation Band, Youth Band/Youth Choir
-Assist in planning for 8:20 and 9:40 Worship Services as well as preparing charts and recordings for instrumentalists through Planningcenteronline.com.
-Work closely with the Director of Technical Support Ministries in preparations for Worship Services
-Attend weekly planning meeting for Elevation Service with responsible pastors
-Provide musical leadership in other worship services as called upon.
-Assist the Associate Pastor by taking an active role and interest in the discipleship and spiritual growth of College-age and Young Adults through devotionals, Bible Studies and teaching.
QUALIFICATIONS
-An evangelical Christian with a desire to serve the Lord in the workplace and a heart's desire for worship.
-A strong leader able to nurture relationships with laity and staff.
-Have an appreciation for traditional/blended worship service with a desire to lead a congregation into a more contemporary style/setting
-Degree in Music or degree seeking preferred – understanding of music theory and ability to transpose and write charts is a must.
-Multi-talented musician with knowledge of and demonstrated skill in instrumental (i.e., piano, guitar, drums, etc.) and vocal performance - guitar preferred
-Well versed in the trends of contemporary worship and music with previous experience leading a contemporary worship band
-Proven strong organizational, administrative, fiscal, management and team leadership skills while collaborating well with others
-Ability to train vocalists to sing parts
-Ability to advance the skills of an all volunteer band and vocal team.
