Director of Contemporary Worship:
Marshall United Methodist Church is looking for a dynamic and innovative person to create, direct, and produce a weekly contemporary worship service. The Director of Contemporary Worship will have the freedom to create inspiring and memorable worship services that will reach both our seeker and believer based congregation.
Responsibilities:
Recruiting, training, and ministering to a team of instrumentalists, vocalists and a technical support staff in effort to create a cohesive and spiritually moving worship service. The Director of Contemporary Worship will be instrumental in working with other members of leadership within the church to guide, nurture and evolve our worship culture and ensure that we live up to our mission statement: "Making disciples who know Christ, grow spiritually, and serve others". We expect our new Director of Contemporary Worship will have great vision, be likeable, approachable and possess mentoring skills that will motivate and mobilize people. Other responsibilities will include the oversight of weekly band rehearsals, the generation of, or aiding in the generation of, visual media presentations for the congregation to follow, and to ensure that the schedules for each part of the worship team are in order. The Director of Contemporary Worship will attend and lead the weekly planning meetings, and will research and select music as appropriate to the direction of the service. The Director of Contemporary Worship must be able to recognize musical talent from within the congregation and be able to train, encourage and develop these gifts. The Director of Contemporary Worship will be responsible for purchasing music, equipment, media aids and any other supplies needed for the contemporary service. (Within the church's purchasing guidelines) The Director of Contemporary Worship will work under the direct supervision of the Senior Pastor and is accountable to the Pastor, Staff Parish Relations Committee and Advisory Council.
Qualifications:
Instrumental and vocal gifts are required, as is the knowledge of band and vocal equipment. Other qualifications include: A strong, mature and growing relationship with Jesus Christ; Technical skills are preferred, including knowledge of Media Shout and other related software; Strong visionary, leadership and teaching gifts, and a desire to inspire creativity; Planning and organizational skills; Dependability; A developed familiarity in contemporary worship; An effective team builder, motivator and communicator (both on a personal level and publicly).
Evaluation:
Job performance and compensation will be evaluated annually by the Staff- Parish Relations Committee.
Part Time:
The hours for this position are expected to be 16 - 20 per week to start ($10,000 - $15,000 Annual Salary)
