Job Description:
First Presbyterian Church (PCUSA) of Muskegon, MI is seeking applicants for a Director of Christian Education position and also a Director of Youth Ministries position. These are part time positions but applicants qualified in both areas are encouraged to apply for both jobs for full time employment with benefits. The successful candidate(s) will be a member of an enthusiastic team serving God through FPC.
CE Director
The CE Director will display an enthusiasm for Christian Education. A degree in education is preferred. Deep empathy and compassion for people is essential. A genuine liking for work with children, teachers and adults is necessary. An interest in teacher training and in curriculum development is required. Good communication skills are of primary importance. A vision of the goals of CE and how we can move toward our ultimate purpose of providing rich religious education experiences for youth and adults is needed for successful administration of the CE program.
The CE Director works with the Head of Staff and the Faith Development Council to develop the vision for CE, planning, budgeting, supervising, evaluating, and reporting on all educational activities. Director of Youth Ministries
The position requires a strong love for youth and emerging adults. The successful person in this job has a real interest in today's family. The intangible ability to befriend youth while leading and maintaining respect and a wholesome atmosphere is essential to this position. Flexibility in time management, stamina, and enthusiasm are necessary.
The Director of Youth Ministries plans and carries out mission and inspirational trips, "lock ins", Youth Mix participation, retreats, worship experiences, FPC mission participation, weekly meetings, Triennium participation, and other activities. The person works with the Head of Staff and Faith Development Council to develop the vision for youth and emerging adults in their growing religious maturity.
