Orphanage Outreach is offering a volunteer program to Spanish students interested in a Spanish immersion experience. From the time a volunteer exits the airport terminal building in Santiago, all communication will be done in Spanish. This is intended for any individual, family, school, or church group interested in expanding their Spanish abilities. The volunteers will primary be involved in teaching Spanish literacy in Dominican schools, and running summer literacy camps. Advanced Spanish speakers may be involved in teaching other subjects - geography, history, math, etc.
Our Spanish Immersion Director will design and lead this program. The ideal candidate will have a master's degree in Spanish or be a native Spanish speaker, be creative and enthusiastic, have leadership experience, and be willing to relocate for five years.
Position includes room and board, great insurance, an annual trip home to the U.S. or Canada, and monthly financial stipend. Individuals and couples welcomed, children discouraged due to limited housing, extensive workload, and limited educational opportunities.
