Director of Music Ministries Mission Statement

To this end, we seek a talented Director of Music Ministries who deeply loves God, loves people and is inspired to lead the music ministries of The Orchard to raise the artistry and beauty of our praise in worship.
General Information
Reporting to the Senior Pastor and assisted by the Worship Elders, the Director of Music Ministries will supervise all music ministries of the church with direct leadership of the adult choir and worship team, as well as provide piano/keyboard support for services.
Additional duties will include overseeing volunteer leadership of adult and youth handbell choirs, youth choir, brass players and woodwind ensembles. He or she will be instrumental in the development and oversight of worship services, in keeping with the church's overall vision. This is a salaried, part time, 20-30 hour per week position with a starting salary of $30,000.
Desired Qualifications
Degree in music, music education or related field is desired
Accomplished in vocal, piano/keyboard skills, conducting and choral directing skills
Familiar with a broad spectrum of contemporary and traditional Christian music styles of worship
Administrative and leadership skills to involve the congregation in the music program
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with ability to work with others and be a "team player"
Church environment experience with knowledge of church liturgy, worship and use of music in worship
Primary Duties
Keyboard support for contemporary, traditional services and special services (Thanksgiving, Christmas, Ash Wednesday, Maundy Thursday , Easter and others as identified) including the following elements:
o Praise songs,
o Prelude and postlude,
o Congregational singing,
o Accompaniment for choir, soloists and/or other musical performance groups, as needed
Worship Team and Adult Choir responsibilities:
o Lead, rehearse, recruit, and shepherd; providing spiritual leadership through devotions, prayer, and personal contact of group members as indicated.
Lead and oversee music (to include choosing hymns as appropriate) for all worship services, working closely with Pastor and Worship Committee, and Audio/Visual volunteers
Other Duties
Recruit volunteers in all music programs, as needed
Attend scheduled staff meetings, worship committee meetings, and leadership community meetings
Schedule groups/solo
