Worship Leader Steamboat Christian Center Steamboat Springs, CO Category: Music Minister, Worship Pastor & Worship Leader Posted on: September 09, 2010
Job Description:
Steamboat Christian Center, located in the beautiful Rocky Mountains in northwest Colorado, is accepting applications for a worship leader for our weekend services. Steamboat Springs has a great small town atmosphere, but is a tourist town, bustling in the winter and summer, and claiming the best powder snow in the country! Steamboat Christian Center has a younger congregation, consisting of young families, children, youth, etc. but also some great fun-loving mature people as well.
SCC's mission is to have Passion for God, and Compassion for People, loving God with our hearts (worship), heads (discipleship), and hands (service).
We are currently in need of a male worship leader and a kid's ministry director and are hoping to possibly find a worship leader who's spouse has experience in children's ministry - we know it may be hard to find, but wanted to throw the idea out there and see who God may bring us!
Worship Leader: Our services, and especially our worship, is considered high-energy, but we are not locked into any set style. Creativity is a big part of our vision for worship, so that at times it is loud and celebrative, but other times can be emergent and comtemplative. Our worship is often tied into the sermon or message, so that there is a clear "take-away" from the service. Our worship preferences are in the vein of Hillsong, HS United, Desperation Band, Chris Tomlin, etc. but also love hymns done in contemporary ways (David Crowder, etc.). We have a great group of musicians and a small vocal ensemble.
Applicant should be very familiar with our style of worship, and be consistently open to pursuing what "works" in Steamboat and for our group of people. We are looking for an applicant with strong vocal skills, who has the ability to confidently lead musicians and vocalists at all levels, provide on-going training (musically and spiritually), encouragement and strong leadership. Creativity, flexibility, and a spirit of excellence are required.
Children's Director: We currently have a weekend children's ministry attendance of around 100-120 children, consisting of 4 classrooms for the different age groups. We have a great volunteer team of 60+, and strive to provide a quality, safe, fun program for all ages. The director will oversee the entire program, curriculum, classrooms, volunteers, as well as provide vision, excitement and programming for our new children's facilities, which we hope will be started this year (we are in a building program and hope to break ground this summer!)
Our staff at SCC also has the motto of "the goal is bigger than your role" - as we are a young, growing staff and church (60 to 600 people in 4 1/2 years in a town of 10,000 people), such that we will consistently support each other and the "big picture" in our efforts to maintain and celebrate the vision of our church.
We would like applicants to submit resumes, photos, references, and a few MP3's or videos of applicant leadi
